Empowering Caribbean Conservation: How Pellucid IT Developed Cutting-Edge Tools for CPAG

The Caribbean Protected Areas Gateway (CPAG) is a regional platform developed under the BIOPAMA programme to support biodiversity and natural resource management in the Caribbean. It was originally hosted by the University of the West Indies (UWI) through Centre for Resource Management and Environmental Studies (CERMES), and is now being transitioned to the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) to ensure continuity beyond the BIOPAMA project.

CPAG’s development was supported by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), the IUCN Regional Office, and the Department of Geomatics Engineering and Land Management at UWI St. Augustine.

• As CPAG deals with sensitive conservation data, particularly regarding endangered species and protected areas, it was crucial to implement stringent data security measures.
