Building the Caribbean Drone Hub Through the GiveBack Barbados programme
Pellucid IT Inc. is pleased to be facilitating a Give Back internship programme in support of the Caribbean Drone Hub (CDH) project.
CDH, led by CERMES, is a regional initiative focused on strengthening the safe, responsible, and practical use of drones across the Caribbean. The platform is being developed as a central space for drone regulations, good practice, training, events, resources, and regional collaboration.

As part of this effort, an onboarding session was recently held at CERMES, UWI Cave Hill, bringing together project leads and student volunteers who will be supporting the next phase of development. Volunteers were introduced to the vision for CDH, the importance of the project within the Caribbean context, and the workstreams they will be contributing to, including research, writing, media, data entry, and web development.

The session also gave volunteers the opportunity to meet one another, ask questions, and begin engaging with the project in a meaningful way. More than just an introduction, it marked the start of a collaborative effort to build a platform that can serve regional needs and create lasting value.

Following the in-person onboarding session, we also hosted a virtual session for volunteers who were unable to attend in person, and it was just as vibrant, engaged, and enthusiastic.

Through this Give Back initiative, students are gaining practical experience while contributing to a project with real regional relevance. We are grateful for their willingness to serve and excited to see this first phase of work take shape.
